What is Trust?
Trust is a built-in feature in LineageOS (thus iodéOS) that helps you monitor the security and privacy status of your device. It provides helpful alerts and recommendations so you can keep your phone safe.
To access Trust :
- Open Settings
- Scroll down and tap Privacy
- Tap Trust
Here, you’ll find a dashboard with your device’s current security and privacy status.
What Trust Tells You
The Trust interface offers a comprehensive overview of your device’s security and privacy status. It continuously monitors key system parameters and alerts you to potential vulnerabilities. Here’s what Trust monitors:
Security Patch Status | Displays whether your system is up to date with the latest Android security updates. |
Encryption Check: | Indicates if your device storage is encrypted to safeguard your personal data. |
Wi-Fi & Network Warnings | Alerts you when you connect to untrusted or unsecured Wi-Fi networks. |
App Permissions Insight | Notifies you if installed apps have access to sensitive permissions, such as location, microphone, or camera. |
SELinux Status | Shows whether SELinux is operating in “enforcing” mode, which enhances overall system security. |
Lock Screen Security | Verifies whether a secure lock method (PIN, password, or biometrics) is configured on your device. |
Why It Matters
Trust doesn’t change your device’s settings, it gives you the info you need to make smart choices about your privacy and security. It’s especially helpful if you’re using LineageOS on a device that no longer gets official updates (not the case with iodéOS that gets regular updates for all its devices up to this day) or you want to be notified about weak spots (e.g., missing patches or no screen lock).
Tips for Using Trust
- Regularly check the Trust interface to stay informed.
- Follow suggestions like enabling encryption or setting a screen lock if prompted.
- Combine Trust insights with privacy tools like MicroG or a tracker blocker (like iodéOS includes) for more control.
